Let Free The Fevicol

Sanam was pasting some pictures from the day in her scrapbook. She had gone out with some of her school friends after half a month of rigorous involvement in studies and preparation for exams. She was a science student and a poet at heart, which to her had started appearing as a trite combination.

“Every other person I see is a writer, a musician or an artist in some way or the other. I don’t know why being a science student and an artist alongside is hyped and acclaimed more than just being an artist”, Sanam told her mother.

“Would you like to reconsider saying that every science student is an artist”, Sanam’s mother told pointing at her dweeb son, who was elder to 15-year-old, class 11 student Sanam by four years.

While Sanam had the gift of the gab, Rishabh, her big brother, was a total nerd engrossed in inventions, whether existing or not. He lacked the sense of humor his Punjabi family naturally had. Many a time, Sanam would joke around saying Rishabh bhaia is not loyal to his genes. Rishabh would only grimace in reply as his mind was busy thinking about the tools he would require to device something new for the college project. However, unlike the hackneyed tradition of comparing siblings, or individuals for that fact, Sanam and Rishabh were never subjected to hold a candle against each other. They were both raised to be proud of who they were and are to become.

“The printer is again not working. Rishabh bhaia, please help me get these pictures out.”, Sanam said to Rishabh in her voice like that of a toddler.

“Technology does not stop working, our brains do. It needs a cartridge refill. I will fix it once I am back from college. I am already late because of you.”, Rishabh runs off picking up his bag and essentials. Sanam sees her project kept safely on the table of the drawing room. She had forgotten that she had to submit her monthly class project tomorrow but Rishabh remembered that she had ask for help a month ago itself. He had since been working on creating the solar energy-based project for Sanam.

“Now who on earth would believe that an 11th grader could create a pen that does not require ink because it is solar-powered.”, Sanam yelled at Rishabh when he returned from college at 9 p.m. that evening.

“Aabhaas Sikka might. Search him on Facebook and ask if he does.”, Rishabh surprised Sanam and their mother with his first-ever shot at humor. “He was interning with Space-India when he made RamanSat 2 and he had a team of adroit scientists to assist him, so there is no comparison, first.”, Sanam reply had a touch of Rishabh’s tone. She continued, “I have just got in class 11 and I, someone who doesn’t even understand the concept of long-established solar cookers and likes to rather spend most of her time writing poems and consulting her classmates with their issues, is creating a solar-powered pen. Why did I even ask you for help?”

“Drop right now, sweetie.”, Rishabh’s last word before “Good Night” that night had a mocking stretch. It seemed like Rishabh and Sanam had stepped in each other’s shoes for that conversation. Rishabh was making jokes and Sanam was sounding serious. “What the hell did just happen”, Sanam’s father asked his wife after he came out of the bathroom.

Sanam, apparently, was a person who connected well with every kind of emotion. She read The Alchemist, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari, The Secret, As A Man Thinketh, and other motivational books time and again to connect to different theories of leading a solemn and stress-free life. She would go on to spread what she read and comprehended from the different ways of understanding and living life.

Once in the second period of their Wednesday time-table of grade 8, Priya, Sanam’s close confidant, was seen messing with a compass at the last bench. Mr. Batra, their Mathematics teacher, had asked the class to bring their geometry essentials for learning construction.

“Stop it, you will hurt yourself.”, Sanam warned Priya while sitting beside her.

“Who cares anyway?”, Priya defended while lightly scratching her finger with the compass.

Priya showed signs of depression and Sanam would always try to get her out of her negative thoughts. Her consolation was perhaps the reason why the compass strokes were soft.

“I care. There are a lot of people who care. Your parents don’t know you beyond your mark sheets and I would say it is just not their fault. You need to befriend them and share your secret talents the way you do with us.”, Sanam suggested to Priya.

“Easier said than done. I do not belong to a cheerful Punjabi family like yours. My parents are not as permissive as yours. They want marks, high scores, and a good academic reputation for me.”, Priya made a slight attempt at opening her heart out.

“Hey hey hey! It is not about the kind of family we belong to. We are all humans and we all have emotions. You always create a strict image of your parents in front of me, but wasn’t your mother crying in her vidaai picture that you showed me the other day from your parents’ wedding album. This proves that she has deep-seated emotions and she does know how to empathize as well. You must tell her what you plan for your future and she will surely help you make the cut.”, Sanam’s wisdom spoke up. Her wise words did not fall on deaf ears as later that day, Priya did explain to her mom about her dream to become a voice over artist. She gave the impressions of different voices, ranging from Misty and Nobita’s to Chutki and Tweety’s.

“Who from did you get this?”, Priya’s mother startled at her daughter’s gifted voice variations enquired, “Do you remember Dimple aunty? Her sister-in-law runs her own voice over institute but they require class 10th as minimum qualification. So complete your studies and after that focus on becoming the best voice over artist. You are really blessed.”. A session of tears did follow the highly sensitive moment for Priya but it ended soon when her father ordered her favorite ice-creams.

This was the power Sanam held. She might never have had the power to create but she always had the power to console and cajole. She was never the brightest her in her class but she shone the brightest in her own world where everything was perfect because everything had a solution. But did Sonam have solutions to everything and every issue or was it just some past successful experiences where her friends heard her and followed her advice that led her to think that she is a healer?

“You know what if you smoke, your life expectancy is likely to decrease by a decade.”, Sanam taught to her three-year older cousin who was in the middle of completing her Bachelors in Mass Communication.

“Yes, I know. And do you know I am prone to a range of diseases like lung cancer, asthma, chronic bronchitis and others.”, Sheena said taking a drag.

For ten minutes from then, Sanam tried convincing her cousin against the act of smoking cigarettes. But no book she had read or no deep thoughts of hers about life could make a difference to Sheena’s life. That day, Sanam felt low on confidence, thinking if she is losing out on her healing capabilities.

Sanam opened her drawer and picked out her highlighters and pens of different colors.

“The world I created has started to collapse
I called for my will like a breathless person gasps
In this imaginative world,
Somebody please find a pad for my vision,
In my real world where accommodate my values,
I feel so crestfallen.
The gift of life,
they do not understand
The value of living
they fail to apprehend.
What do want to do is right,
What they don’t want to is wrong,
How do I make this world a better place
How do I bring the change I want to embrace.”

Innocent Sanam filled yet another page of diary with ink, feelings and water that dropped down her eyes. She was an intuitive soul who wished to touch every life with positivity and good values. But after she failed to convince her cousin for not smoking, she was crestfallen and fret giving advices or using her consulting powers.

“This just doesn’t fix”, Rishabh said surrounded with different engineering tools, thermocols, stacked and scattered books and notes, as he was engrossed in his college project. Sanam saw Rishabh work tirelessly and unaware that he hadn’t had dinner that night. He slept nearby his project only and had set an alarm to wake up early next morning.

The next day, Rishabh woke up to his alarm and massaged his eyes and facial muscles before putting on his fat specs. He fixed and re-fixed his specs, and squeezed and widened his eyes before accepting that his sister was using fevicol to paste one of his tools on a board that Rishabh was fiddling with in the night gone by. He stared at his sister for a while with a confused smile. He called for her.

“Sanam”, Rishabh started in a tone high enough to be heard at once.

“Sanam”, Rishabh tried at a higher tone when Sanam failed to hear to him.

“Sanam”, Rishabh was so loud that his parents in the next room had woken up too.

“Yea, what? Why are you shouting? I am not hard of hearing.”, Sanam said pulling out her AirPods.

“What are you doing with my project?”, Rishabh asked in a humble tone bringing his index finger to his chin.

“You are a dumb person. Haven’t you seen me pasting my pictures in my scrapbook? Would do I use? A simple fevicol. How could you not give a fevicol a chance to fix your thing?”, Sanam explained.

Rishabh guffaws. “You know what you lack?”
“What?”

“This”, Rishabh filled nuts and bolts in his hand, and showed it to Sanam. She responds with an exclamation mark present but not visible on her face.

“The practical facts”, Rishabh explained, “You have a wonderful heart Sanam. You want to help, you want to create a change, you want to spread positivity but you lack the practical fact. Come what may, the fact remains that a fevicol cannot glue or paste everything. Sometimes, we would need a tape, sometimes a glue or sometimes nuts and bolts to fix one thing with the other. A fevicol can paste things but not everything.”

Sanam welled up.

“I saw you writing that poem. Look Sanam, your values can change people but not everyone. Sometimes, even when you are right, you need to leave people hanging on their own circumstances and let them learn by their own experiences, just like you have. Give people a chance to experience and learn from them, instead of injecting your perspective into them. You can be a fevicol, you do you. You do your work. Keep trying but if things refuse to stick, you let them be. You need not turn into any other adhesive, rather find things that need a fevicol.”.

Sanam, her voice breaking, said, “Do you also secretly write and read? How can you be this intellectual as an engineer?”

Rishabh smiled and called her for a hug. “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone. Remember this quote by Ronald Reagan. Okay.”.

Sanam and Rishabh’s parents clicked their picture while Sanam cried embraced in her brother’s arms. Since then, Sanam has remained a fevicol that maintains its properties, or qualities, and doesn’t force its adhesiveness, or perspective, on others. Sometimes, it is good to let go!

Change Your 'Self-Love' Techniques If You Find Yourself Un-Loving Others (Cont.)

Part 2 (CONT.):

After a recent turn of events, Joan has tossed back the social media habits that were especially affecting her mentally and emotionally. To follow her newly acquired lifestyle with an undeviating approach, she joined dance classes. In part, she has been initiated into the solemnity of true self-love, where she refrains from the urge to exhibit her life moment to moment to her social media friends and followers. However, when she sees friends, cousins, and other people in her vicinity receiving the kind of attention she once used to, a part of her goes vacant. It is not rare that she holds herself back when a thought to post her new dance lesson itches in her veins. She does want to make known the inclination she and her life have taken to, but if she does that by any means, the purpose of resorting to a life of minimal outward display would vaporize.

One thing of many that Joan has learned in her dance classes is to find the right platform for self-expression. It is not about how good or bad the performance is, the idea is to express the "self". It won't be wrong to mention that the right platform in Joan's eyes has so far been the social media, where she did give an impressive performance but not an expressive one. So, one day, Joan sits on her bean bag to think about her "right platform". Her heart is confused and she feels anxious, but somehow, she manages to relax down her mind a bit. She is holding a pen and a paper, which she tore out from her personal diary that had been untouched ever since she befriended the social media. She starts to contemplate how she could add some meaning in her ways of living. As she pens down her childhood dreams, talents, capabilities, personal interests, and everything that had actually shaped her, she smiles through the tears of repentance running in rivulets down her cheeks. "Life comes sober, perhaps we complicate it with our expectations", she muses.

As soon as Joan's thoughts curve towards an intense side, they start to ponder over how her past and present combined can shape her future. All the possibilities she could reckon are on the paper and all she perceives is a future of events that does not gladden her. She is struck by a realization that all this while, she had only gained unworthy attention through social media. She wishes to turn the clock back, spend more time in her own space, and be able to analyze who she could become on the basis of who she actually is, what she actually enjoys, and what could bring her a worthy recognition, not confined to social media. Helplessness, uneasiness, insecurity, anxiety, Joan was soon caught up by these feelings and she dreaded her future. The emotional state that she was presently in triggered rage in her, making her very uncomfortable and angry at herself. All she saw was red. What should she do?

Imagine a glass containing contaminated water. Mud, twigs, pollutants, bacteria, toxins, etc., had all contaminated the water. To get rid of the filth, you may throw the entire quantity but then you would have no water left. So, what you do instead is filter your water. You get the liquid rid of whatever contaminates it because when impurities will be gone, water will come back to its natural state and become fit for drinking.

Now replace water with feelings, contaminants with negative emotions, and glass with yourself.
We are all born with feelings, which we contaminate through the consequences of our bad experiences. But the right thing to do is not stop exposing ourselves to unforeseen experiences or its consequences. The right step is to take it all up and conduct some cleansing sessions on a regular basis to get rid of the impurities that we have, unwillingly, absorbed. This way, no matter what we experience or gain from life, we shall always remain in our most natural and useful state, and be fit mentally, physically and emotionally.

But how do we remove the impurities in our feelings or thoughts? In case of emotional anger, the more often we express, the more confidence we gain in expressing it. The next time and times thereupon, we are going to repeat the expression. In addition to stirring negativity in the surroundings, this may influence a lot of people around and teach them dealing with anger the same, wrong way.

The next thing we can do is control ourselves. Joan in the above instance tries to control her mind. However, her heart and soul are still not in a state of peace. Our heart needs to be equally in control as the mind, so that our soul is calm. If the balance is not maintained and we keep on gulping down our anger, it will form into a heap inside us, ready to explode one day, when enough of it has been stored in.

So shall we dispose of our emotional anger? More often than not, when we decide to dispose of anger and do not find the right opportunity to do that, we start yelling at people who love us the most. The psychology behind this kind of behavior finds its basis on the trust that we have built up on our well-wishers. We know few minutes of pouring out rage on them would not affect our relationship. Well, until when?

Ignoring is another option but I personally find it a bad filtering idea. Remember any time when you tried to ignore an old classmate on road and they turned around to call out your name and say a "Hi". I feel when we try to disregard a feeling, any of it, it is likely to come back to us, perhaps singing, "you can run, you can hide but you can't escape my love".

While you got engrossed in reading the right way to filter out impure feelings, Joan had already discovered a solution. She was sitting with her mother, discussing her situation. She hasn't find her answers, but the fact that she has somebody to share her feelings to is enough. Along with her mother's hug, the brownie she got from one of her friends that evening became the solution of her emotional anger.

Understand, neither the solution is to yell nor it is to mum. When you go through such situations, talk to somebody who will not just react, comment and forget. Find those people in your life who empower you. Learn from their ways and be somebody who empowers others. This way, we can maintain peace within ourselves while also spreading it outside.

Change Your 'Self-Love' Techniques If You Find Yourself Un-Loving Others

PART 1:

Joan calls up her gang of friends, including the ones she had not been in touch with for months, to plan a union and even before their consent or denial, she has already started to visualize her OOTD pictures and the tailing social media posts, captions, hashtags, and other similar self-directed assignments. Five of the twelve people she had gotten in touch with blew off her gesture towards re-connecting and she is disappointed. Nevertheless, she gulps it well down her throat because those group pictures in her imagination have to have her exhilarated toothy smile and for no cost can she feel low at this point. Now she is out with her chums donning her best-ever Forever 21 pride, which, out of self-love, she had recently bought for herself. As they all settle themselves at the coffee table of a newly-opened café in town, the riveting mission of attending to the social media delights Joan more than the new job a friend on her left has is talking about. As soon as the day comes to an end, Joan sets her way back home and immediately starts to upload the picture of the day, thanking people in her caption to have found time for her. Another riveting mission now has her occupancy and she is consistently checking for reactions on her posts from who she considers as social media marshals. Few people she was expecting of seeing and reacting to her feeds have not done that yet and the rushing ferocity in her is so unbridled. Well, it was a heck of a day for Joan. While it started to make her feel better about herself and her life, it wasn't any better after the disgrace she feels now. Poor Joan, little did she know how her understanding of self-love was leading her to un-love people.

Kevin Gilliland, PsyD, a licensed clinical psychologist and executive director of Innovation360, perfectly observes the partially positive impact one is posed to through reactions and comments from social media, as, in an interview to POPSUGAR, he had said, "Likes and shares can make us feel high, and we can begin to rely on that activity to give us the boost we may believe we need to feel good, but then, over time, we start letting it define us. The validation we get from social media is only a temporary feeling of having had real connection with someone, but then we're just living in the shadow of the real thing". (https://www.popsugar.com/fitness/Q-Gen-Z-Social-Media-Mental-Health-46077919). As I tried to discover an association between the urge for social media presence and attention, and self-love, I could very well infer how the former tends to contaminate the latter.

Let us remove events from the closely fictitious scenario above layer by layer in the reverse-chronological order. Let's just say that Joan did make the posts but after a tiring day, she decided to engross herself in some good reading, unconcerned about who does or does not react to her updates. This is where at least social anxiety seems to have swept off, quite to a large extent. She does not need any validation on how her life is going about from anyone and with no such expectations, her senses definitely do not lean her towards hatred for people.

However, Joan is still a person of rapturous social media presence, who wants the world (what to her are the 1.6k friends and followers she has) to know how lively her life is. From pictures of the new café to which dessert she had with her friends to the group picture, she had it in her to put it all up on her social media profiles. She may not show it but deep inside, she does seek and love to receive attention. In addition, she is not a person of the moment as she puts a deaf ear to what people around her are discussing about. Even if she was genuinely grateful with her thank-you posts, her behavior at the café was that of an impolite and unwelcoming person. That is not what self-love is. It would never teach you to not enjoy the moment you are in or to be ignorant of people around you. What made it worse was that Joan missed an opportunity to hear about the high-key perks of her friend's new job, merely because she was engrossed in feigning a glee on social media.

Okay. Maybe Joan had read Leo Tolstoy's "The Three Questions" and had not made that many posts while attending her friends (another layer removed). But why was she was disappointed on the five people for not joining in? Perhaps, she expects a lot from people and needs to understand that even if somebody was not available to entertain her plans that day, it does not mean that person would never be there for her. Well, honestly, even if nobody shows up the next time either, Joan's self-love should hold her strong and not let any sort of negative vibes touch her. It indeed was an optimistic step of her as she puts on a smile for the day ahead, but the fact that it was all for her social media thoughts nulls her efforts at being strong and happy. She should have instead found happiness in reasons like she, first, has taken up a path of sanctity as she intends on attaining self-love, and second, if not those five, there are seven other people to help her walk through it.

Now it's time to remove the very last layer. Joan had created a plan with friends. There, as I can think of, can be two mindsets behind her initiative. Maybe, it was genuine of her to want to see her friends and old pals. That is an optimistic approach. But if she had thought a group picture would appear impressive as a recent post, and she could make jealous some people she probably had in her mind, it is definite that she takes people in her life for granted. Maybe all she had in her mind was to show others that, "Hey, look here, my life is so perfect. I have got Forever 21, old friends, a new café to hang out at and blah!". That is not the way one self-loves. It is a selfless practise and one has to be self-sufficient in every way to achieve the purest form of self-love.

In my most honest observations, in the course of becoming our better selves by loving ourselves, we all do look forward to getting approval on our acts from the masses. If you are one of a kind in slightest of the ways, you belong to mankind. So, do not worry. But remember, the idea of self-love is being able to enjoy real moments with real people of your life and feel real emotions. It is all about how your conscience reacts on your daily acts of life and not people. Ensure that with every step you take, you are not gaining formless pleasures but dignified achievements like the powers of positivity. Do more things that make you feel that way. As for Joan, my imaginary development, she is now taking dance classes. And only her few best friends from school and those across her apartment know about it. The classes are not only helping her distract but, with their oh-so musical vibes, they are also turning her into a relaxed, unworldly person, and a better dancer too.

Being 'Positive' Doesn't Take Much Actually!

I Tried to Paint the Sky...& colored myself!

At some point in life, you must have heard someone saying, “The more you run away from something, the more it follows you back”. Though the quote never held a grain of truth in my life, I have lived with this thought for time immemorial. I ran away from truth, but no honesty came back to me. I ran away from mosquitoes, dengue never came to me. I even ran away from my books for entire school life, but no learning ever took a step towards me. However, I was astonished with the fact that whenever I used to run away from dogs, they ran back at me (one little grain could be applauded for this situation). No matter what life served me with, running away had no signs of solution or an escape or an explanation to any reason of probabilities behind the happenings.

That day, I encountered the ‘Secret’ at a small market owned by a child vendor exactly opposite to Café Coffee Day at Moolchand Metro Station. His mom was selling artificial jewelry right next to his shop; a shop with no shed or light or fan, but just the Café Coffee day on one and Metro Parking on the other side. I wondered, what was this family running away from that made this small self-owned, self-opened market follow them? The poor kid must be running away from school and books came to him. The helpless mother must be running away from jewelry to satisfy her family needs, and it all came back to her (who might also be envying or longing everyday for what she sold).

Well, as I encountered ‘Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne, I decided to buy its sequel which I encountered at my second glance; ‘Secret, the Power’. I started with first page the same day, inside the loud metro announcements (which also included any private announcement made by public in secret communications inside the Violet Line Metro). Initially, I thought that the concept of this book is wrong and confusing. The author tells you to have an amazing life and to wake up each day with excitement. She advises to only have positive feelings and ignore the negative ones around. She continuously speaks about ‘Love’ and its powers. My eyebrows raised a lot of questions during the introductory pages of the book. Why shouldn’t it be okay to only love what you like and actually hate what disinterests you? Why should there be a problem if you accept the negative feelings around and live with them positively? What would make a difference if you think about hatred and not only love, so that it helps you distinguish between the two feelings? Won’t being positive always leave you circumspect? How will you build opinions if you stick to just one feeling?

Indeed, for no reason in the 21st century, when one gets anguished with late replies, people can always be positive, irrespective of what their blood group is. However, as I went through the book more and more, I realized that the ‘secrets’ behind Byrne’s concepts held truth. In one of her contents touching upon feeling the secret, the author wrote a Neville Goddard’s quote which said, “Whenever your feeling is in conflict with your wish, feeling will be the victor”. And this was quite provoking if I thought about my desires which I couldn’t live due to some reason or the other. May be because it’s more about rejoicing what you are being and have been blessed with. It’s really about feeling what you have and being contented. At the same time when ‘following your dreams’ provide inner peace, ‘living and loving the present’ brings along glee, which is the key to survival without complaints.

Coming back to ‘the more you run away from something, the more it follows you back’ thought, I believe the very fact of life is that you never achieve your dreams if you run away from them. Rather, when you feel that the dream you chase is all yours in reality, it comes to you in not much time. It might bring to you indications about soon becoming true when it takes too long to be lived and not just felt. But, the starting point of achieving a dream is feeling it and feeling that you are living it. By any chance, if your wish is not coming true, it’s for sure that life has stored in something much better. All you need is, just feel that situations you are getting exposure of are only for good, better and best!
The author also talks about giving others what you wish to have. Sharing one of her experiences, Byrne says that once she was running short of money. She was making a film based upon her book. She wanted money to complete the movie. Though, she was all in debt, she walked to an ATM and drew out several hundred dollars from her credit account. She went on to give the amount she had to certain people. Afterwards, what happened astounded her. Her bank account received 25,000 US dollars for some shares she had bought in a friend’s company years earlier. The incident suggests that putting love into giving brings what you share back to you.

In a nutshell, try to spread colors around you so as to bring the colors back to you. Be good and goodness will come back to you. No matter how the sky is - clouded or black - just paint it. No matter how people are, just love them. To absorb your own philosophies for your life, teach them to others. You teach people about love and you will be lovable. You teach them about happiness and you will be jovial. Teach what you know for you always get a response. You never know, while talking to others, you get a much-sought answer for yourself. Remember, even a plant that’s living yet passive is beneficial.

Celebrating Independence :)

Where Are the Kites...
11th Aug’2014...

As every other evening, I was standing at the bus stop where people waiting for their buses looked more thoughtless than the non-respiring buses that they were waiting for. Smart ladies with Gucchi purses (I doubt, if original) made me feel proud at one moment and think of a future like theirs at the other. A day long work and then a ‘need-to-sleep-but-have-to-cook’ expression at their faces told me why this category of unfortunate bus stand lovers looked thoughtless. Then I turned my eyes over perfectly crisped shirts, mostly in check patterns complimented with dark shades of trousers. And then I moved my eyes over the faces that these clothes were carrying (Ooops! Reverse). The faces that had uniquely same nose, eyes, lips, and sweat! This category looked exhausted, as if dreaming to take the wrong bus intentionally and go on a different route of which they hope to be a swimming pool of delightful and stress free life. This category is often seen staring at the cars that could afford their owners (Ooops! Reverse). Well, they are tired, dreamers...yet thoughtless! And there was a happy category (or a bunch) of a blend of smart, sweet, funny people laughing at one liners and PJ’s. This group was though not very unfortunate to be a member of ‘Bus Stop Club’, as they looked full of life and their life appeared full of reasons to be thoughtless. Neither they had any tension of what to cook today, nor were they tired of any scheduled life. All they cared about was ‘who is going to pay for Momos and Cream Roll’. Aaaah! This life! This youthful, sparkling life! It takes a lot to reach to this life!

Where we stand today, may be considered a part of our decisions, but how we stand is a long story of our upbringing. We believe in moving on with the passing of time. We believe in collecting what comes our way and live with it. We believe in a lifestyle that is fast paced and flashing. Without realizing what we leave behind while we believe to be at the top!

While my half empty brain unnecessarily observed these thoughtless appearing unfortunate bus lovers, the whistle of my phone (yea! Smart one) beeped. I scrolled down the curtain on the screen to check my notifications! There were a few people fascinating me with ‘abe chal’, ‘mogambo khush hua’, ’satakli’ etc sort of stickers on Hike. Also there were two messages for some property at Noida Expressway. And a few messages on whatsapp some of which made an appeal to set Indian Flag as Profile Picture.

Well now! That’s Pretty Interesting! (Yo Holiday!) The non respiring buses, the thoughtless people, the carefree youngsters... nothing entertained my half empty brain about the Holiday (ooo... I should mean holy day). And something more alarming at the moment was no excitement for the 68th Independence Day. I rolled my eyes up to check if the sky was as vibrant as I used to see Pre-Independence day few years back. I wanted to check if the craze of ‘I-BOW’ still exists. But I realised, things have changed and now restricted to change of whatsapp DP. I could soon sense the clear skies of the evening, which years ago at the same time used to play with a no. of colourful rhombus thing- The KITES!

Days before the celebration of Independence Day, I remember running up to the terrace with every single Kid living in the same building where I did. We always had one or two uncles who used to join us, not just because they helped us fly the kites, but also because they feared that we kids will ape Shaktiman and his revolving stunt on terrace. As a part of Contradiction, today a 6-year old would be considered mature and smart enough to operate tablets and chat on Social Networking Sites.
I remember the Celebration used to be grand, though on a small scale. As what we valued was the fun and get to gathers. The aunties would make Samosas and Pakodas (I doubt, if they could actually make something so delicious), there used to be songs, dancing, fun, and the sacred national anthem.

We used to buy stacks of kites, as apart from eating, sleeping, home works, lame excuses of headaches and fever... childhood is meant to enjoy and play. And during the month of August, playing meant flying kites. (Though for me, it meant either to carry “Charkhi” or just hold the “maanjha”...but I have always considered it a way of fun that is beyond happiness)

Those were the days and that was the childhood. Even today we have days, weeks, hours...but what we have lost is the innocence of life. The little things that brought grand joy are vanishing and grand developments in technology that is bringing temporary and fake satisfaction at the name of a “joyful life” is advancing.
Should not it be just the reverse...?

There is no one to blame for my non-excitement for this holy day, neither the non respiring buses, nor the thoughtless people. Neither the carefree youngsters, nor my half empty brain. But I just pray and feel pity for the clear sky. I feel pity that there are so less children to run up to the terrace and pay their contributions to make the sky vibrant with a few countable numbers of kites. There is no scope of ‘I-BOW’ competition. I wonder if there is any “fly the kite” app on their smart phones!
Anyways! Back with my eyes at the bus stop, I decided to quickly get into the over-crowded, hanging people bus (yeah! They unbelievably hang at the doors) and run to buy kites (and I hoped, people still sell them). And right now, my colourful purchase is right in front of my eyes. Time to call friends, and fly some kites (or may be hold the ‘charkhi’) Time to have fun- Outdoors! And enough of reading this for you as well! Go out and #happyflying.

Girl Next Door!

The Soul in Her ...

With no shine of gold
she is another girl next door
Shedding tears in bed
Laughing rolling on the floor
The girl who always screams
Day and night in her dreams
Wishing to live the limelight
wishing for at least one attentive sight
The girl who pretends
to be like someone else
Ends up being the real-she
with a weeping heart, no one can see
Her love is young
her love is beyond comparison
She loves everyone
But fails to show it to the right person
She smiles in her thoughts
thoughts that are mere dreams
she runs away from situations
coz reality to her is very mean
When situations go wrong
she prays them to be silent
she begs for words to get over them
she begs for her script for better guidance

all the world’s a stage
where she feels like a bystander
make her feel special
coz she plays the lead role, however!

She can be daddy’s princess
brother’s doll
mommy’s angel
or someone’s lady love
She can be you, me or any other she

Nehru Nagar and Golgappe, Bhaad me jaaye bus, pehle pastry, break matlab amar colony ka chakkar aur kalti maarlena! How these everyday moments have become memories now!Kya jaldi jaldi bade hogaye na yaar...!
